NOTES FOR PEA GRAVEL
  • Pea gravel shall be free of all foreign materials, such as but not limited to bricks and metals.
  • Backfill material may be from the tank site if it meets this specification, or it may be delivered from another source.
  • In tidal areas, bedding material shall be crushed stone or pea gravel.
Requirement: 100% passing 1/2"
Requirement: ≤ 12% by dry weight
Ready

NOTES FOR CRUSHED STONE
  • Crushed stone shall be free of all foreign materials, such as but not limited to bricks and metals.
  • Backfill material may be from the tank site if it meets this specification, or it may be delivered from another source.
  • In tidal areas, bedding material shall be crushed stone or pea gravel.
Requirement: 100% passing 1/2"
Requirement: ≤ 12% by dry weight

NOTES FOR CLEAN SAND
  • Clean sand shall be free of all foreign materials, such as but not limited to bricks and metals.
  • Sand shall be placed into the excavation in 12–18 inch (305–458 mm) vertical lifts.
  • Each lift shall be compacted after placement to at least 60% of the vertical height of the tank.
  • In tidal areas, sand may be used only if measures are taken to prevent washout during the service life of the system.
Requirement: 100% passing 1/2"
Requirement: ≤ 12% by dry weight
Ready
Enter values and click Calculate.
NOTES FOR NATURAL EARTHEN MATERIAL
  • Natural earthen material shall be free of all foreign materials, such as but not limited to bricks and metals.
  • If earthen material from the site is used, take a minimum of four 1 cu.ft. samples from different representative locations and sieve to determine compliance.
  • Sand or natural earthen material may be used in tidal areas only if measures are taken to prevent washout during the service life of the system.
Requirement: 70–150 psi
Ready

NOTES FOR FLOWABLE FILL (CLSM)
  • Flowable fill shall be installed in accordance with good engineering practice.
  • CLSM should meet applicable NRMCA guidance for controlled low strength materials.
  • Flowable fill shall be free of all foreign materials, such as but not limited to bricks and metals.
